![]() National Child Passenger Safety WeekPennsylvania participated in National Child Passenger Safety Week from Sept. 12-18. During that time, PennDOT encouraged parents and guardians of young children to have their child safety seats inspected for proper use and installation. Since 2004, there have been 97 fatalities and 14,383 injuries to children up to age eight. Forty-six percent of those injuries were cases where either no child safety seat was used or the child was not restrained properly. Trained technicians were available for assistance at Car Seat Checks throughout the week, starting with Seat Check Saturday. As part of National Child Passenger Safety Week, PennDOT and TIPP recognized members of Pennsylvania“s Life-Saving Team. Law enforcement officials, medical providers and community organizations were honored for their commitment to child passenger safety. A full listing of the honorees is provided below.
